DESCRIPTION:Deepening Equity Practices in the CDFI Industry\nHow can CDFIs apply an equity lens across race and gender in sectors like health and education? While equality means that everybody has an equal opportunity to provide the same to all\, equity recognizes that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to the imbalances. And while many CDFIs have dedicated themselves to addressing racial equity\, they must also begin to understand and address other forms of equity. \nThis panel will introduce us to how the gaps in health\, gender\, education\, and economic inclusion are large\, persistent and increasing—many of them occurring long before the pandemic\, which has only exacerbated and created additional barriers at all levels of our society. The fight for equity is ongoing\, requiring us to identify and overcome our conscious and unconscious bias\, or systematic structures and inequality. \nHow can CDFIs leverage their existing efforts in racial equity to increase access and opportunities for everyone to live a just and fair life\, no matter who they are\, where they live\, or how much money they make. We will hear from experts who will define the other forms of equity and share how they are already making impacts in each one. \n
