Semifinalists Selected for the Ford Atlanta Urbanite Mobility Challenge
The Partnership for Southern Equity (PSE) is pleased to announce the selection of 10 semifinalists in the Ford Atlanta Urbanite Mobility Challenge: Empowering Entrepreneurs to Enhance Mobility in Atlanta.
The semifinalists were selected from a diverse range of proposals submitted during the initial phase of the challenge. These entrepreneurs will be eligible for $150,000 in mobility pilot grants, startup investments, and technical support.
The Atlanta Urbanite Mobility Challenge, hosted by Ford Motor Company in partnership with PSE and supported by AT&T, Delta Air Lines, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Novelis, is set to revolutionize mobility access for Atlanta residents. The Ford Atlanta Urbanite Mobility Challenge is an 18-month program that invites local and national entrepreneurs, resident leaders, social sector organizations, small, and diverse businesses to submit innovative solutions that address Atlanta’s unique transit and economic mobility needs.
The focus of the challenge is developing community-centric approaches to improve mobility in the following areas:
● Accessing neighborhood resources
● Ensuring safety while walking and waiting for transit
● Increasing job access
● Connecting to new developments
The Ford Atlanta Urbanite Mobility Challenge provides financial backing and technical expertise to create sustainable and equitable mobility solutions for Atlanta’s residents.
“Everyone has a right to a transportation system that is safe, affordable, provides access to good jobs and contributes to an equitable ecosystem,” said PSE’s founder and Chief Equity Officer, Nathaniel Smith. Likewise, the people closest to the mobility equity problem are also closest to the solution. “The Ford Atlanta Urbanite Mobility Challenge will activate agency with those we serve and help make the American South a global model for community-centric entrepreneurship and transit equity.”
